'Build Up, Break Down'

  • Sui Jackson,
  • Debra Jurss
  • Christine Atkins

DATES 14 December 2016 - 4 February 2017

LOCATION: Visitors Centre, Australian National Botanic Gardens

TIMES:  9:30am - 4:30pm daily

This exhibition combines the work of three Canberra-based glass artists, all graduates of ANU within the past seven years. Each one looks to nature for inspiration for their work and is interested in communicating to people through their artworks.

  • Jackson wishes to provide a vehicle for discussion about mass production and its impact of the natural world.
  • Jurss wants to express the joyous wonder that can be evoked by natural environments.
  • Atkins wants to guide the viewer into contemplation of phenomena found in nature and the moments of transcendence one can feel when viewing them.

The combination of artworks by these artists promises a dialogue of comments about water, land and plants that will delight all nature lovers. The exhibition wishes to reinvigorate the viewer’s connection with nature and open their minds to new ways of thinking about and appreciating the natural world.
